It all began with one small cutting garden.
wilbir began in the spring of 2021 with a few garden beds and the simple joy of sharing flowers with friends. What started as hostess gifts soon grew into a small neighborhood stand, followed by a summer CSA for close friends.
Over time, wilbir became a place where the community could find flowers for meaningful celebrations or for the everyday moments that matter just as much. Today, wilbir is a flower shop in Cold Spring, NY, built on those same values of care, connection, and joy.
Liesel Vink is a home gardener turned florist with an art background from the School of Visual Arts. She is a master gardener, mother, wife, friend, creative and florist, who left her career in photo editing and archiving to pursue a more fulfilling path combining her love of florals with her curatorial spirit. Her love of cut flower gardening was rooted in her childhood, watching her mother and grandfather tend to their gardens, and later flourished through her own cutting garden. She continues her floral studies at FlowerSchool New York in Manhattan.
At the heart of it all is her love of gathering — whether around a dinner table with friends or through florals that help mark life’s most meaningful moments. Liesel lives with her family in the Hudson Valley.
wilbir is named after her two daughters, Willa and Birdie.
